Roofing Services in Potters Bar
Roof replacements are the heart of what we do, and as your roofer in Potters Bar we also take care of roof repairs, flat roofs, chimneys, leadwork and the roofline.

Roof Replacements
When a pitched roof keeps letting water in, or the tiles are slipping faster than they can be put back, a new roof is usually the better use of your money than another round of patching.
We strip the old tiles or slates and the worn-out felt underneath, look over the timbers, then lay a new roofing membrane and new battens before the roof goes back on. Ridges, hips and valleys are bedded or fixed again, and the leadwork at chimneys and walls is renewed where it needs it.
We lay clay and concrete tiles, and slate, natural or man-made, so the new roof can match the house and the rest of the street. Homeowners, builders and architects also come to us for the roofs on extensions and new builds.
What we do
- Strip the old tiles or slates
- New membrane and battens
- Clay, concrete or slate coverings
- Ridges, hips and valleys finished
- Leadwork renewed where needed
Good to know
- A pitched roof usually takes anything from a few days to around two weeks
- A written quote and a timescale before work starts
- The old roof is taken away, not left on your drive
- Free, no-obligation quotes

Flat Roof Replacements
Flat roofs on extensions, garages, dormers and bay windows wear out sooner than pitched ones, and the first sign is often a damp patch on the ceiling below.
We take the old covering off, replace any decking that has gone soft or rotten, and lay a new roof in the system that suits it: torch-on felt, EPDM rubber or GRP fibreglass. Edges, upstands and outlets are finished so the water runs off the roof and away, not into the wall.
Most of our flat roofs take one to three days, with the size of the roof and the material deciding which end of that range.
What we do
- Torch-on felt systems
- EPDM rubber roofs
- GRP fibreglass roofs
- Rotten decking replaced
- Edges, upstands and outlets
Good to know
- Usually finished in one to three days
- For extensions, garages, dormers and bay windows
- Repairs too, if the roof has years left in it

Roof Repairs
Not every leak needs a new roof. Often the trouble is a handful of slipped tiles, a cracked slate, a worn valley or a split in a flat roof, and a proper repair sorts it.
We find where the water is getting in, then replace broken or missing tiles and slates to match, re-fix slipped ones, renew worn valleys and seal punctures, blisters and split seams on felt, EPDM and GRP flat roofs. We work on pitched and flat roofs of every kind.
Inspections and quotes for non-emergency repairs are free, and we tell you plainly if a repair will do or if the roof is past it.
What we do
- Tiles and slates replaced or re-fixed
- Leaks traced and stopped
- Valleys repaired
- Flat roof splits and blisters sealed
Signs to look for
- Damp patches or water stains on ceilings
- Tiles or slates on the ground
- A sagging roof line
- Moss lifting the tiles

Emergency Roof Repairs
If a storm has lifted tiles or torn a flat roof, or water is coming through the ceiling, call us and we will come out to stop it getting worse.
On the first visit we make the roof watertight, with a temporary repair if the weather is against us, and look at what has failed. The permanent repair follows as soon as conditions allow, and you know what it will cost before we start it.
What we do
- Emergency call-outs
- Temporary weatherproofing
- Permanent repair once it is dry
While you wait
- Move valuables away from the leak
- Catch drips in a bucket
- Keep clear of fallen tiles and debris

Chimney Repairs and Leadwork
A lot of leaks start where the roof meets something else: a chimney, a wall, a dormer or a valley. That is where lead flashing does its work, and where it fails first.
We repoint crumbling chimney stacks, renew lead flashings and soakers, cap chimneys that are no longer used and take down stacks that have become unsafe. We also re-lead bay window roofs and valleys.
What we do
- Chimney repointing
- Lead flashings and soakers
- Chimney capping
- Unsafe stacks taken down
- Lead bay roofs and valleys
Good to know
- Whether a chimney needs scaffolding comes down to how tall it is and the state it is in
- We tell you after a free look

Fascias, Soffits and Guttering
The boards along the roof edge carry the gutters and close off the eaves. When they rot, sag or split, rainwater ends up down the walls instead of down the pipe.
We take off old fascias, soffits and bargeboards and fit new ones in uPVC or timber, with new gutters and downpipes where they are needed, so the water drains away properly and air can move through the roof. We also repair leaking or sagging gutters, and clear them out when we are there for other maintenance.
What we do
- Fascias and bargeboards
- Soffits
- Gutters and downpipes
- uPVC or timber
Time to replace them when you see
- Peeling paint or soft, rotten wood
- Sagging boards
- Gutters that overflow or drip
- Birds nesting in the eaves

Roof Inspections and Maintenance
A roof that is looked at every so often rarely springs a surprise. Small faults found early cost far less to put right than the damage they cause later.
We inspect the whole roof, from the tiles, slates and flat sections to the flashings, chimney, gutters and roof edge, and tell you what we find. That suits homeowners who want peace of mind and buyers who want to know what they are taking on. We also clear moss and fit roof vents to cut condensation and mould in pitched and flat roofs.
What we do
- Roof inspections
- Moss clearing
- Roof vents fitted
- Gutters cleared on a maintenance visit
Good for
- Buying a house
- An older roof you are unsure about
- After a bad winter
